Then There Were Two

Artist: Febueder
Label: Independent
Impact date: Out Now
ROTD featured date: Tuesday 10 July 2018

We say

Back in April last year, we featured the gorgeous Morning Yawn by Ascot’s avant-indie trio Febueder. Now a duo, this mesmerising dose of ethereal indie was written by Samuel Keysell and Kieran Godfrey shortly after the band returned to its original two-piece form. Then There Were Two, taken from their All a Hoax EP released in April, is a beautiful, rhythmic and vivid number that is captured perfectly in their Jane Qian directed video released today. Tastemaker support for the EP, which features mixing from Marta Salogni (Frank Ocean, Bjork, The xx) on Hans and Paramount Tether, has come from the likes of Complex, DIY, and Impose whilst NME, The Line of Best Fit and GoldFlakePaint have all sung their praises for this youthful duo. Having performed at SXSW and played a sold-out headline show at The Seabright Arms in London earlier this year, Febueder will be heading out on a string of European dates this September which includes a show at Birthdays in Dalston, London, on 20 September. This is clever and sophisticated music from a young British band that deserves more attention. For fans of alt-J, Wild Beasts and Pumarosa.
