Hastings’ rising alternative rockers Kid Kapichi released their second EP, Lucozade Dreams, last Friday and this monstrously addictive indie-rock number is the lead single. Fronted by vocalists and guitarists Ben Beetham and Jack Wilson, Puppet Strings builds on it hauntingly slow and melodic beginnings into a raucously, riff-infused floor filler reminiscent of early Arctic Monkeys and Queens of the Stone Age. The track has already received repeat plays from BBC Introducing South and Amazing Radio. Their previous singles have garnered tastemaker support from Steve Lamaq at BBC 6 Music, MTV, Kerrang TV, London Evening Standard, Louder Than War and NME, whilst recently the band have become involved with Underground England’s Soundwave platform alongside the likes of Black Honey and Pale Waves. This Wednesday (4 April) you can catch them in London at the Camden Monarch, as they bring their tour of the UK to the big city, having previously supported the likes of Slaves, Rat Boy and Fat White Family. With their blend of scuzzy riffs, melodic rock tendancies and anthemic lyrics, Kid Kapichi are ones to watch in 2018.
