We say

Sleeping in Suburbia, the next single from south London-based singer-songwriter Martha Paton is a beautiful slice of country and folk-infused pop. Released next Friday (12 January), the track toys with themes of isolation, ennui and death as Martha’s vocal effortlessly floats and soars over gently strummed melodies and gorgeous slide guitars. Taking its cues from Laura Marling, First Aid Kit and Margo Price it is perfect for those folk and coffee house playlists as well as plays on BBC Radio 2 and 6 Music. Tastemaker support has come from the likes of The 405, BBC Introducing and Steve Lamacq for her previously released EPs, Panoramic and Pulling Threads. A favourite with Sofar Sounds she will be performing for them again later this month, after her first London gig of the year at The Bedford in Balham on 22 January. So, if you are looking for your first new song to obsess over in 2018, look no further.
