Emerging from the darker side of electronic music we have the mysterious Swedish collective Stockholm Noir. The self-named ”black shadow” of the scene have been dropping singles (Hopeless Dreams, Boy Like A Girl) and instrumentals (Black Neon, Parvaz Kon) since April this year and have so far garnered over 500k combined streams. Their latest single, Frozen Ground, is a breathtakingly euphoric adventure that slowly builds from its simple piano motif to its synth heavy finish. Featuring the mesmerising and haunting vocals of Australian duo Peta and The Wolves, the track glistens with that distinctly Scandinavian glacial feel but powered through the collective’s own dramatic and darker production aesthetics. In short, it’s an absolute belter. The track has been picked up to feature in the Swedish TV series, Jordskott, and the collective have received online tastemaker support from Popjustice, Scandipop, High Clouds and EQ Music as well as airplay on Swedish Radio P3. With music this good it won’t be too long before Stockholm Noir are on everybody’s lips.
