Out today (February 17) and featured in Spotify’s New Music Friday UK playlist, Tom Grennan follows up his debut Something In The Water with this excellent track, the first taster from his forthcoming EP Release The Brakes. Hailing from Bedford, Tom immersed himself in the local grime scene as a teen, along with his other passion of football. University brought him to London, where music took over his life, regularly gigging in town with his acoustic guitar. Now 21, he featured on the Chase & Status song When It All Goes Wrong, which led him to Radio 1’s Live Lounge, Later With Jools, support across BBC Introducing for his own music, and a tip as one of Annie Mac’s New Names. Then came a spot on BBC’s Sound Of 2017 long list. So things are truly moving at a rapid pace for him. He’s in the middle of a sold-out debut UK tour, then he’ll be back performing live in London at Union Chapel on April 20. This bluesy, soulful, passionate vocal is filled with hope and optimism for brighter days to come, and points the way forward for a guy whose enormous breakthrough with this is surely imminent.
