Mozez is no stranger to the music industry. In the 1990’s he scored a US Billboard Dance Chart No.1 as part of the duo Spirits before being recruited as lead singer of the legendary Zero 7 (alongside the-then unknown Sia), contributing to the success of their astonishing Mercury Prize-nominated debut album Simple Things in 2001. Now firmly established as a solo artist with his own record label, this is the excellent title track to his forthcoming new album Wings (due October 23) and has already had a superb pre-release reaction. Early radio support has come from Tom Robinson at BBC 6 Music (who described it as “an astonishing record”) and Dermot O’Leary at Radio 2. It’s also racked up over 1.6 million hits on YouTube too. He performs live in London soon, firstly as part of the Heritage Of Ska night at the 229 venue on Great Portland Street on September 11 and then with his regular collaborators Nightmares Of Wax at Islington’s Union Chapel on September 24. Chilled yet uplifting and inspiring, this is guaranteed to make your heart soar.
