We say

Fans of BBC dramas Wallander and The Shadow Line will already know Emily Barker's music even if they don't yet know her name, responsible as she is for writing the BAFTA and Ivor Novello-winning themes to both. UK-based but originally hailing from Bridgetown, Western Australia, Emily (with her band The Red Clay Halo) toured the UK and Europe with Frank Turner last year, appeared with him at the Olympics opening ceremony, and went on to sell out their own headline show at London's Union Chapel. After three self-financed albums, Dear River is Emily's first for 'audiophile' label Linn Records, due out on July 8. Produced by Calum Malcolm (The Blue Nile, Lau), it marks a shift to a rockier, more radio-friendly sound - the title track has already featured on Dermot O'Leary, Bob Harris and Alex Lester, with live sessions on Jeremy Vine's 2Day show. Emily has has just announced a 28-date UK tour including Shepherds Bush Empire on October 16.
