We say

Northern Ireland trio The Japanese Popstars released their 2008 debut 'We Just Are' to praise from The Guardian, Word, NME, Clash, Popjustice, Mixmag and DJ magazine, among others. Now signed to Virgin/EMI, Destroy - featuring the vocals by Jon Spencer (of the Blues Explosion) - provides the first taste of the band’s second album which is due out in the summer. Premiered on BBC Radio 1 as Pete Tong's ‘Essential New Tune’, the single comes remixes from Doorly and Autokratz. Their reputation as a great live act precedes them as they hit the summer festivals, which this year includes Bestival, Creamfields, Parklife, Electric Picnic and Rockness. Mixmag wrote that they might be 'the most exciting new electronic act on the planet' – if the album continues the form shown here, we would be inclined to agree. London gig: July 10, Matter (Live) SE10
