Manchester quintet 1913 have been getting some good reviews for their live shows recently, impressing many with their brooding, literate and melancholic pop. This first single comes out on new Manchester-based label Modern English, which was set up by John Robb and Johnny Jay. There's enough fresh thinking on tracks like this to add to the influences touted, which are easily-spotted. A series of live dates are lined up to tie-in with the release of Atlantis.
