When The Night Kills The Day

Artist: Lauren Pritchard
Label: Island
Impact date: EP out May 3
ROTD featured date: Thursday 25 March 2010

We say

There's plenty of British influence running through The Jackson Sessions, the debut EP from Lauren Pritchard, who was born in Jackson, Tennessee. Ed Harcourt co-wrote this stirring track, which also features production from Marcus Mumford and Ted Dwaine from Mumford & Sons. Production on the rest of the EP comes from Eg White who has worked on the bulk of Pritchard's debut album. Another EP track, Stuck, has been getting BBC Radio 1 plays from Huw Stephens and Giles Peterson courtesy of a lush-sounding Various Productions remix. When The Night Kills The Day shows the 22 year-old's considerable vocal poise in the best possible light - a promising taster of what to expect from her album Wasted In Jackson, due out in the summer. Before then, a string of dates across the UK are lined up including The Great Escape in Brighton in May. JF London gig: April 15, Source Below W1
