We say

Codeine Velvet Club, a project formed by Fratellis' Jon Lawler and Scottish singer Lou Hickey, released their self-titled debut album late last month to positive reviews in NME, The Observer and Q, among others. The Observer's Ally Carnwath noted that they delivered 'a fine record inspired by brassy show tunes, gothic blues and sweeping orchestral pop'. The perfectly judged orchestral arrangement on Nevada, a beautiful highlight on the album for us, comes courtesy of Mick Cooke of Belle & Sebastian. Lead single 'Hollywood' was playlisted on BBC Radio 2, where it has received plays on Steve Wright and Janice Long, as well as a Radio 2 Boxing Day special with David Tennant and Catherine Tate. They tour with John Mayer later this month. JF
