Melbourne duo Gypsy and the Cat produce a sound which feels like a comfortable progression from that of acts like Empire Of The Sun. Some fine pop songwriting combined with a dreamlike backdrop on excellent tracks like this (check out Watching Me, Watching You on their MySpace too) has excited music blogs lately. The reference points stretch back further than the 80's into the 70's - indeed they describe their influences as ranging 'from Air to Fleetwood Mac to Bach'. The late DJ AM featured their track Breakaway on a mixtape he released earlier this year. Gypsy and the Cat are available for records and publishing and have an album's worth of material ready to go.
