Let Me Be Your Lover

Artist: Tom Hickox

ROTD featured date: Monday 2 February 2009

We say

A writer and live performer with a growing reputation since his 2007 self-released debut album, Tom Hickox's 'Let Me Be Your Lover' will probably split opinion. We were won over by engrossing, intelligently assembled ballads like this – and there's no denying a distinctive voice is at work. Hickox was recently tipped by Neil McCormick in The Daily Telegraph who wrote that “his operatic baritone psychodramas sound like Leonard Cohen crossed with Antony and the Johnsons”. Check him out at his forthcoming London gigs and also at SXSW in March, and post your opinion on our messageboard. JF London gig: February 11, Regal Room at The Distillers W6
