We say

A traditional murder ballad which is brought to life by a collaboration with grime artist Bubbz, 'Lucy Wan' forms the centrepiece of Jim Moray's recently-released third album 'Low Culture'. We've long been fans of his, featuring the excellent 'My Sweet Rose' from his self-titled 2006 album. Given folk's return to the mainstream in recent years, it's worth pointing out that Moray's unique pop/folk compositions have been setting the folk world alight since his 2004 R2 Folk Award-winning debut. A great version of XTC’s 'All You Pretty Girls', re-imagined as a sea shanty, is another highlight. It's an album that showcases an artist bursting with innovative ideas. JF London gig: September 23, The Green Note NW1. Stage time 21:00
