Staff picks of 2006: today - James Foley (aka Rock). Of all the tracks I picked over the year, this from Dublin band Delorentos was one that stuck in my head and made me keep revisiting their MySpace to see if any new materiel had surfaced. They also provided my default answer to that most difficult of questions - "What are you listening to at the moment?” This year I've managed to catch them live more times than is considered healthy – everywhere from Camden's Dublin Castle to the Electric Picnic festival to Temple Bar in Dublin – and they blew me away at all of them. This highly hummable track was first featured in April; it showcases perfectly their talent for sharp songwriting, as well as their tightness. We're looking forward to spending next year with a Delorentos album. Elsewhere, Sheffield's The Guild (now signed to Island) and Cajun Dance Party were my other favourite featured artists. JF
