19 year-old Manchester-based singer Karima Francis has an extraordinary voice. We can hear traces of Joan Armatrading, and others but there's nothing derivative about her voice or her songwriting. She looks and sounds striking, and is one of the most engaging prospect for patrons of this year's In The City. The Author completely melted us when we first heard it. With a string of local and national gigs behind her, including among them a support slot with James Morrison, Karima has gained a reputation as a live performer. Interest is building.
