As regular readers will know, we’re always keen to spotlight emerging country talent at RotD, and today we introduce Stella Lain with her new single 'Country Girl'. The track strikes an irresistible balance between authenticity and accessibility with banjo, fiddle and guitar riffs anchoring the song with country roots, while polished pop production ensures effortless radio appeal. Lyrically, she tackles themes of identity, femininity and belonging with warmth and clarity, distilling them into an instantly memorable hook. Inspired by being told she was “too Barbie” for country music, she embraced the label, creating her “Country Barbie” persona and spinning it into a playful yet empowering anthem. Early tastemaker support for this and her previous singles, 'Sun-Kissed' and 'Boy Bye', has come from Countryline Radio and Holler, and 'Country Girl' now feels primed for editorial country playlists across DSPs, as well as specialist airplay on Radio 1 and 2. Fresh from festival slots at Country Calling UK and All Out Music, the Norfolk-born singer-songwriter is gearing up to release her debut EP this autumn. Drawing inspiration from Dolly Parton, Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood, Stella Lain blends pop sensibilities with storytelling roots, marking her out as a rising name to watch on the UK country-pop scene.
