Portland
Killer's Mind

[PIAS]

WE SAY

Back in May, we featured the exquisite and dreamy soundscapes of rising Belgium band Portland ahead of their performance at the Great Escape festival. Their mesmerising set wowed a packed out venue, which we were lucky enough to catch, and kickstarted an amazing summer for the group that saw them play festivals Rock Werchter and Pukkelpop. They also completed their debut album, Your Colours Will Stain, with David Poltrock (Triggerfinger, Hooverphonic). Helmed by singer-songwriters Jente Pironet and Sarah Pepels, Portland are now back with this darkly sweet gem about getting hurt, dealing with it and moving on. It’s a beautiful number where dark meets light as the ominous synths underpin the angelic vocals of Jente and Sarah while they trade verses till the uplifting chorus. Tomorrow (26 September) they will be playing at the ITB Presents showcase at the International Festival Forum in Camden at Dingwalls, so if you are attending, we highly recommend you check them out.
