Kate Davis
Monster Mash

ANTI-

WE SAY

Growing up in Portland where she began playing the violin at age five and bass at age thirteen, Kate Davis later moved to New York City to attend the Manhattan School of Music. At night, Davis would sneak down to shows in Brooklyn, where she watched indie-rock innovators and secretly dreamed of breaking away from the academic rigour of the jazz world she inhabited. In 2019, she broke away from the jazz world with the release of her debut album, Trophy. Tinged with ‘90s indie rock goodness and a compelling lyrical narrative, Monster Mash is the second single from her forthcoming follow-up album Fish Bowl, which conceptually traces her transition from conservatory-trained jazz musician to experimental art-rock singer. It’s a bold and infectious single, full of emotion, that deserves playlisting support on any indie rock/alternative editorial playlists at DSPs and spins on 6 Music and Radio X.
