Youth Music announces latest round of the Nextgen Fund, helping equalise access to music for young creatives



 

Grants of up to £2,500 are available for 18-25 year olds (or up to 30 if d/Deaf or Disabled 

Applications for Round Seven of the Youth Music NextGen Fund, supported by Dr Martens and players of People’s Postcode Lottery, open on Friday 1 September 

The fund is designed to help emerging artists and professionals develop the skills needed to thrive in the fast-moving music industries 

75% of recipients so far are based outside of London, with more applications encouraged from the Northeast of England, Scotland and the East Midlands in particular 

To date, the Youth Music NextGen Fund has invested over £485,000 directly into the pockets of young creatives 

 

Youth Music is today announcing that Round Seven of the Youth Music NextGen Fund will be open for applications from Friday 1 September until Friday 29 September. 

The fund is for early-stage musicians and wider music adjacent creatives, including producers, mixers, digital platforms, events entrepreneurs etc, with successful applicants granted up to £2,500 for their projects and to make their ideas happen. 

 

The Youth Music NextGen Fund 

Youth Music launched the NextGen Fund in 2021 to equalise access to the music industries.  So far, 172 early-stage musicians and music industry creatives aged 18-25 (and up to 30 years old for people identifying as Disabled) have received up to £2,500 to launch a project, idea or business. The fund is especially aimed at those whose financial situation holds them back from pursuing their goals. 

All information about applying, including tips and advice, can be found on the Youth Music website. The fund is not limited to performers, but also open to producers, A&Rs, managers and agents, plus roles in the music industry that may not yet have been defined.
