Within Temptation Sign Exclusive International Record Contract With Vertigo Records Germany

Universal Music Germany label Vertigo expands its renowned artist roster with one of the world’s most successful heavy rock groups: With Dutch symphonic metal six-piece Within Temptation the Berlin-based label welcomes one of the genre’s most enduring and most popular acts. As we speak, Within Temptation are putting their signatures under the contract with the German major label giant who is going to represent the Dutch band exclusively and worldwide (excluding Japan).

Since its inception in 1996, the band around singer Sharon den Adel and guitarist Robert Westerholt has been constantly making its presence felt in the global symphonic metal scene. With more than 3.5 million records sold worldwide, Within Temptation are not only one of the most successful symphonic metal acts, but also one of the best-selling artists of The Netherlands overall. The band headlined all the major festivals in Europe, such as Download, Hellfest, Wacken Open Air, Graspop and Woodstock Poland as well as many other events, and received numerous international awards, including a World Music Award, MTV Europe Music Awards, a Metal Hammer Award and many more.

Within Temptation’s 2014 top 4 album “Hydra” reached the top 10 of the album charts in ten countries. With #16 on the American Billboard chart, it was their most successful US-release to date and subsequently presented live by the band on a sold-out US-tour. At the moment, the Dutch group is busy working on their as yet untitled follow-up album which will be the first to be released by Vertigo/Universal Music Germany. The band’s European Tour kicks off in October and consists of 35 dates in 18 countries. More dates around the globe will follow in 2019.
