Wide Awake festival announce line up, including black midi, Daniel Avery, Lena Wilikens, and Shame.

Bad Vibrations, Dimensions, LNZRT and SC&P collaborate to create a brand new, one day festival, Wide Awake, which will take place on Friday 5 June 2020 at Brockwell Park, London. Wide Awake announces its first wave of acts including massive alt breakouts such as black midi, Crack Cloud, Shame and Snapped Ankles, as well as niche curation from Daniel Avery. The festival will  focus on genres across leftfield indie, post punk, electronica, techno, jazz +  more. Super early bird tickets are £27.50 and on sale here.

From some of the original founders of Field Day, LNZRT, and the creators behind some of London’s most iconic, small music venues: MOTH Club, The Shacklewell Arms, The Waiting Room and Peckham Audio, this festival has been consummated through an adoration of music and a long history of ground-shuddering live shows across each of the sites.

Wide Awake delves into the underground scene to create a festival for music fans.

The line-up hosts an eclectic range of live performances including the experimental textures of black midi, the jazz-soaked cacophony of The Comet Is Coming, as well as the bleak euphoric choruses of Crack Cloud and Drab Majesty. Driving the post-punk stylings are Shame and Snapped Ankles that will guarantee to smash their way through South London’s soundwaves. Daniel Avery will curate and showcase a variety of electronic music across the dance spectrum, whilst the industrial techno purveyors, Minimal Violence will also take to the stage.

Wide Awake aims to provide a distinctive counter-culture experience like no other London-based festival. It will champion independence, as well as include a strong policy for sustainability where it will reduce its carbon footprint through the following actions:

Wide Awake Positive Policy

  • Bury zero waste in landfill
  • Leave no trace of litter
  • Ban single use plastic across the site
  • Only use compostable plastic and cutlery
  • Only provide ethically sourced food
  • Operate a cup deposit scheme that doesn’t rip fans off
  • Recycle all trader & back of house waste
  • Only permit biodegradable stage effects

Wide Awake Festival Director, Marcus Weedon, says -

"We're thrilled to be putting on an event with an ethos that doesn't really exist at an outdoor festival in London at the moment. It's great to give bands like black midi, Shame and Goat Girl that have grown out of the South London scene a festival gig in their back garden. We're proud to provide a platform for so many great up-and-coming bands. And stay tuned, we've got some surprises in store before the summer."

Wide Awake will take place on Friday 5 June 2020 at Brockwell Park, London, Super Early Bird tickets are £27.50 and on sale here.
