Leading talent agency Wasserman Music and the UK's largest music therapy charity, Nordoff and Robbins, are challenging music industry execs this Blue Monday, by announcing the return of Music Mudder, the muddiest cross-industry challenge, for 2024.

Taking place on Friday 13 September in Dorking, Surrey, the endurance event will see teams from across the industry take on Camelot Events' legendary 'Nuts Challenge' obstacle course, raising vital funds for Nordoff and Robbins.

The 2023 edition of Music Mudder raised over £61,000 for the charity, with Oscar Tuttiett, competing on the AEG Presents B team, completing the 7km course in the fastest individual time in a rapid 53 minutes 34 seconds. His feat helped the full AEG Presents B team take the top spot as the fastest overall team, with an average time of 1 hour, 3 minutes and 20 seconds. Live Nation won the top prize for fundraising, with over £4,700 donated through their JustGiving page.

Running in groups of up to 10 people, teams will tackle numerous obstacles on the ultimate UK mud run including the Commando Assault, Tunnel Rats, A Bridge Too Far and a whole host of new obstacles for 2024, whilst raising as much money as possible for Nordoff and Robbins. Alongside the main event, there will be live music, a selection of food vendors, refreshing drinks, raffle prizes and a celebratory atmosphere. Showers, changing facilities, lockers and shuttle buses from Dorking station will be provided for all team members.

Teams of 10 cost £1,000, plus a minimum of £500 fundraising per team and can be booked by emailing info@music-mudder.com or via music-mudder.com.

Nordoff and Robbins is the UK's largest music therapy charity, with a unique approach shaped by more than 60 years of practice. By harnessing the power of music, Nordoff and Robbins' trained music therapists help break through the barriers caused by life-limiting illness, disability and social isolation, creating space for people to express themselves and find connection in society. The charity reaches thousands of vulnerable people through their bases across the UK, and by working in partnership with organisations including care homes, schools and hospitals. Its work can be transformative, from an adult living with dementia reconnecting with family, to a child with autism finding their voice.

Money raised through Music Mudder will help Nordoff and Robbins provide its vital services across the UK. The charity is hoping to encourage at least 60 teams to register for the mud-filled obstacle, raising enough to fund at least 400 music therapy sessions, helping more people living with life-limiting illness or disability to express themselves and find connection in society."

Funds raised will help people like Ray, who has been passionate about music for his whole life and is now using music therapy to come to terms with being diagnosed with incurable stomach cancer. While attending the Community Choir at Mountbatten Hospice, Ray met music therapist, Fraser and music therapy has become the highlight of Ray's week as he navigates his diagnosis. From songwriting – the pair have written a song together, called 'If I Could Turn the Clock Back' - to performing at a Cabaret Evening at the Hospice, music is lifting Ray's confidence and celebrating his creativity.

Sandy Trappitt, Deputy Director of Fundraising , Nordoff and Robbins, said: "The fourth edition of Music Mudder is set to be bigger, better and muddier than ever before. Over 400 competitors took part in 2023, raising a huge £61,000 for Nordoff and Robbins. As a charity, we receive no direct government funding, so this kind of support from our friends in the music industry and from donors is vital, it quite literally allows us to keep the music going. So we hope to see as many of you as possible on the course this September."

Lucy Putman, Agent, Wasserman Music, said: "The fun's not over when festival season comes to a close this summer. We're looking forward to reuniting with our music industry colleagues for the annual challenge of Music Mudder with music therapy charity Nordoff and Robbins. The messy mayhem is a real highlight in our calendar each year and the best thing about it is that it's all for a vital cause too."
