Warner/Chappell Music signs deal with Birdy

British singer-songwriter Birdy has signed a global publishing agreement with Warner/Chappell Music, the music publishing arm of Warner Music Group (WMG).
Birdy says: “It’s great to be working with Mike and the team at Warner/Chappell. I started writing music when I was really young and it’s always been something I felt I had to do and I feel very lucky to be able to do it for a living. I’m currently writing for my fourth album and I’m very excited to see it start to come together.”
Mike Smith adds: “Birdy is an incredible talent.  The fact that she broke through at such a young age and has been able to hone her songwriting over the course of three albums while still only being 21 is staggering.  I think there’s a lot more to come from this amazing singer-songwriter and I look forward to working with her in the years ahead.”
“Birdy” is the stage name of Jasmine van den Bogaerde, who shot to fame in 2011 aged just 14 when her version of ‘Skinny Love’ became a hit across Europe and beyond, achieving platinum record sales in the United States.  Her eponymous debut album, released by Atlantic Records UK, was critically acclaimed and commercially successful, topping the charts in Australia, Belgium and the Netherlands, while performing strongly elsewhere.
Follow-up album Fire Within was released in 2013 and was also hugely successful.  Birdy wrote or co-wrote all the tracks on the album which was a Top 10 smash in markets around the world.  Third album Beautiful Lies, which contained 14 songs written or co-written by Birdy, followed in 2016 and was a Top Five hit in the UK and a Top 10 hit across Europe.
Birdy’s songs are regularly synchronised into commercials and TV programmes all over the world.  She was awarded “Music Week’s Sync Artist of the Year in 2015”.  She has also written songs for various Hit US Movies including The Fault In Our Stars, The Hunger Games and The Edge of Seventeen.
Birdy is currently writing her fourth album which is expected to be ready for release in 2018.
