UTA Music delivers their biggest Great Escape showcase to date, with CASISDEAD, Willow Kane, Bob Vylan, Scalping and more
20 May 2022 - Press releaseContinuing their forward-thinking strategy to elevate the world’s most exciting new talent and shine a spotlight on some of the most important emerging scenes and cultures, UTA returned to Europe’s leading showcase festival The Great Escape in Brighton last week to host their biggest night at the event to date.
Taking over Coalition on the seafront on Friday 13th May, the line-up boasted boundary pushing acts such as grime MC and producer CASISDEAD, punk pairing Bob Vylan and genre-blurring pop provocateur Willow Kayne. The dancehall and pop inspired Grove, experimental electronic rock outfit Scalping and hip-hop electronica collective NUKULUK all combined for one of the most exciting live shows of the entire showcase event, with the venue at capacity for the duration of the evening.
The event follows a raft of new leadership hirings at UTA London which centre around a real drive and focus to break exciting new talent and working with some of the most important emerging scenes and cultures in the world. Speaking about the event’s success, Rebecca Prochnik UTA Director of Creative Strategy, UK Music says:
"UTA’s show at The Great Escape was a hat’s in the air moment to acknowledge the immense shift and changes taking place in the music space as the world pulls through the pandemic into a charged and shifted reality. From start to finish, the night reflected a refreshing foray into the universe of genre defiance and boundary pushing from fast-emerging artists Nukuluk, Scalping, Grove, Willow Kayne, Bob Vylan and CASISDEAD, whose performances wove a tale of contemporary zeitgeist to a full house.”
Earlier this month UTA launched a new curated live series, Hear This, with the first night taking place at The Grace in London on Tuesday 10th May 2022. The evening showcased women in R&B and Soul, and featured the talented Claudia Valentina, Mnelia and Tolü Makay. With performances for an audience of carefully selected industry figures and new music fans, the series is designed to provide early amplification for some of the most exciting newcomers during the early stages of their careers. Future events, set to take place every three months, will continue to spotlight the most vibrant emerging talent, genres and cultures.
