UMG’s inclusion in the TIME100 marks the first appearance of a major music company since the list’s inception

 

Universal Music Group (UMG), the world leader in music-based entertainment, was named to TIME’s fifth-annual TIME100 Most Influential Companies list, highlighting companies making an extraordinary impact around the world. 

UMG’s inclusion marks the first appearance of a major music company since the list’s inception.  TIME recognized UMG for its longstanding commitment to defending artists rights including its work to “empower creators” and in “championing a more equitable streaming economy and responsible AI.”  

TIME stated: “Under CEO Lucian Grainge, UMG is championing a more equitable streaming economy and responsible AI. It has forged artist-centric royalty models with Spotify and Deezer and partnered with YouTube to help create AI music principles that balance artists’ rights, creativity and safety.
