Turntable LIVE Acquires JQBX, Unites Two Music-Centered Social Platforms

Turntable LIVE is announcing its acquisition of JQBX. Both platforms create engaging online social experiences powered by shared music. The two companies first came together to allow Turntable LIVE's builders to experiment with new features, which has approximately 1 million users. JQBX's avid fans connected with these features to such an extent, Turntable LIVE decided to purchase the company.

"Both Turntable LIVE and JQBX had passionate users and a similar approach and true devotion to music as an amplifying social dimension for virtual experiences," explains Turntable LIVE creator and CEO Joseph Perla. "We plan to keep serving JQBX's users as we make Turntable LIVE even more fun." The brand, domain, and JQBX community will continue as a community with special features on www.JQBX.fm

"Joseph has a very clear vision for the future of social listening and virtual music experiences that I find incredible," notes Jason Ziegelbaum, JQBX founder. "The JQBX community is in good hands."

Turntable LIVE and JQBX provide a layer of excitement and connection that are missing from most virtual social experiences. Users can select and customize an avatar and a stage, then follow a link to their friends' dancefloor or browse themed rooms according to their tastes and interests. Once on the dancefloor, they can connect their music service of choice and jump up into the virtual DJ booth to start spinning tracks. Or they can bop on the dancefloor and vote up their favorite tunes. Chats, both text and voice, keep the party lively.

Along with interactive listening, visual design and game elements make things fun. DJs win points when they get two or more music lovers in the room to enjoy their selection. These points unlock rare avatars and other upgrades, encouraging people to actively share with others. Currently in invite-only beta, Turntable LIVE recently announced a $7-million seed round from prominent social investors as it prepares to launch publicly in the near future.

"We feel great about continuing the JQBX community on Turntable LIVE. This joining of forces will allow us to do more for all our users, as we bring new features to life for better social experiences that are enhanced by music," says Perla.
