TuneCore partners with Beatport

TuneCore, the leading development partner for self-releasing artists—owned by Believe, one of the world’s leading digital music companies—has announced a new partnership with Beatport, the global leader in music for DJs, producers, and their fans, to enable TuneCore artists to distribute their songs to the platform. To celebrate and discuss their new partnership, TuneCore CEO, Andreea Gleeson, and Beatport CEO, Robb McDaniels will be participating in multiple events at the International Music Summit in Ibiza including a TuneCore-produced reception on Thursday, April 27th and a fireside chat at the Beatport Villa on Friday, April 28th.

Andreea Gleeson, CEO, TuneCore commented, “Electronic music is a top genre among TuneCore artists. Through this new partnership with Beatport, TuneCore is excited to offer comprehensive distribution options for our electronic artists around the world, and give them access to a direct pipeline from their recording studio to the vibrant world of clubs, festivals and radio, as well as the potential for additional promotional opportunities through Beatport’s DJ Charts and renowned editorial features.”

Beatport is the world’s largest electronic music platform for DJs, serving both downloads and streaming through a web store, mobile app, DJ Web App, and integrations directly into DJ software and hardware. Through the new partnership, artists utilizing any of TuneCore’s UNLIMITED distribution plans will be able to send their music to the Beatport platform for an add-on fee of $7.99 a month (billed annually), allowing artists to get their music in front of Beatport’s robust user base of electronic music fans, tastemakers, and professional DJs, as well as the platform’s in-house curation team. TuneCore artists sending music to Beatport will also have access to the most comprehensive collection of genre tags among independent distributors, with the company now supporting 33 different electronic music genres and subgenres including House, Trance, UK Garage / Bassline & more.

Robb McDaniels, CEO of The Beatport Group added, “As the number of music creators around the world continues to accelerate, enabling TuneCore’s customers to easily upload their music to Beatport is an important way for us to nurture new talent in the dance music space. We’re thrilled to be working closely with Andreea and her team to help empower the next generation of DJs, producers and artists.”

The new deal coincides with initiatives at Beatport to offer a variety of tools and support to DIY artists via its Music Services division led by Alex Branson.

In celebration of TuneCore’s new partnership with Beatport, Believe, its development platform for self-releasing artists TuneCore, and its electronic music focused imprint b:electronic, will be kicking off a talent search to discover and promote up-and-coming electronic music artists and producers. Submissions will be open via a dedicated LabelRadar portal for artists currently distributed by TuneCore, and will be evaluated by an experienced and diverse panel of judges, consisting of producers, DJs, and industry professionals. Selected winners will receive funding to aid their growth and career development.

TuneCore will begin distributing music to Beatport in early May, and the submission window for the talent competition will open at that time, with additional details to be announced on TuneCore’s social media channels (@tunecore).
