Toolroom has appointed former Toolroom Marketing Director and co-founder of Toolroom Academy Miles Shackleton as Chief Operating Officer.



Internationally recognised and leading dance music label, Toolroom Records, has appointed Miles Shackleton as COO across the full suite of Toolroom companies with immediate effect. 

Reporting directly to founders Mark Knight and Stuart Knight, Shackleton will lead the strategic planning and oversee day-to-day operations of the entire Toolroom group - including Toolroom Records, Toolroom Academy, and Amplified Label Services - during a milestone year that mark’s the label’s 20th anniversary.

With over ten years’ service at Toolroom, Miles has been instrumental in driving the brand forwards and as Marketing Director, has grown Toolroom’s online community to 1m+ followers, secured over 100m streams and Brit Certified Gold status for Weiss’ ‘Feel My Needs’ campaign, and has authored a 20-year history of the iconic label which is to be published in December via Velocity Press.

As Co-Director of Toolroom Academy, Miles helped conceive the brand’s innovative, educational platform which is currently home to over 7000 students. With double-digit growth in three years, Toolroom Academy is the fastest-growing online house music production school. Alongside a recent move into music production technology with its independently developed ‘Infinite’ plugin, the platform has also partnered with music college WaterBear to offer the world’s first record label-backed degree.

In his new role as COO, Miles Shackleton will continue to work closely with Mark and Stuart Knight to solidify Toolroom’s position as a pioneering brand across electronic music for the last 20 years with a world tour to mark the anniversary. This year alone, the label has seen multi-million streaming releases from artists including KC Lights, Leftwing & Kody’s ‘I Feel It’ was certified silver in the UK, and a Beatport #1 from ESSEL - a track found via Toolroom’s We Are Listening platform, an initiative to find and nurture female talent in dance music.
