Tonik presents ‘The Next Generation of Instruments’ at BBC Introducing Live 2018

Award winning, innovate music-tech startup, Tonik, is presenting at BBC Introducing Live on November 9^th & 10^th to discuss the future of instruments. The event will be held in the Tobacco Dock, which is also where Tonik is headquartered. The two presentations will be hosted by Yamaha and will take place in the Yamaha Sessions Room at 2pm on the 9^th and 11am on the 10^th.

The company’s founder and previous Silicon-Valley entrepreneur and engineer, Mike Coyle, will be giving the presentation. He will be discussing the functions of an instrument, whether current instruments are meeting the needs of modern musicians, and the instruments that are being developed by the innovators in the industry. He will also introduce the concept of augmented instruments, a nascent type of instrument that Tonik is pioneering.

Tonik is building a line of instruments and augmentations for the next generation of musicians. “At the moment, current offerings within the electronic music space lack two important aspects – solid user experience design and the raw connection of musicians to the act of hitting and plucking. As a result, products are not intuitive and can be frustrating and disconnecting, particularly for novices and amateurs”, explains Tonik’s founder, Mike Coyle. “This disconnect from acoustic interfaces has reduced the ability of musicians to improvise, collaborate and perform. This is a void Tonik is hoping to fill.”
