TikTok revives #TTFreestyle challenge with Fraser T Smith & Mixtape Madness

At TikTok, we love to see the diversity of music genres and talent on the platform. So we are very excited to announce that we are reviving the #TTFreestyle challenge this November.

Many TikTokers will remember our first #TTFreestyle that we launched in August to celebrate the growing rap community in the UK. We were overwhelmed by the response and range of incredible talent that got involved, from Dizzee Rascal and Tinie Tempah to Lost Girl and Rushy.

Not only are we partnering with Mixtape Madness again, the UK's leading music discovery platform, but this time we're joined by the brilliant, multi-platinum producer Fraser T Smith.

With the help of producers HL8 and X10, Fraser has provided a remixed instrumental of his track, 'Children of the Internet'  from his album 'Future Utopia', to be used as a backing track for the challenge. Get creative and show off your best skills - Fraser will be looking at all the entries to decide on his favourite freestyle.

To get involved, all you have to do is record a video showing your best freestyle rap over Fraser's track and upload it with the #TTFreestyle official hashtag. If you're looking for inspiration, check out Fraser, songwriter Zak Messenger and Birmingham rapper Ddroid who have already posted their videos.

Commenting on the challenge, producer Fraser T Smith said"I love collaborating with talented artists from different backgrounds and TikTok is the perfect destination to do that. This challenge is all about coming together as a diverse community to experiment, challenge and celebrate each other. Every artist will have their own unique perspective and vision for their freestyle, and I encourage each of you to tap into that."

TikTok is excited to be supported by Mixtape Madness for this challenge, a UK rap music outlet and entertainment and distribution platform based in London. Founded in 2010, it has played a crucial role in the growth of rap music, with the likes of SL and M Huncho developing through the platform and artists such as Digga D currently represented.

Joel Duncan, creative strategist at Mixtape Madness said: “It was great to collaborate with TikTok again on this. The previous TTfreestyle campaign gave the TikTok community a platform to showcase their talent - and we saw that in abundance. And now having the legend Fraser T Smith, HL8 and X10 involved as well, we’re delighted we can do it all over again.“

There's been plenty of action in the world of TikTok music recently. We took it back to the '80s, '90s and '00s with our #backtothemusic challenge and last month, as part of our Black History Month events, we welcomed leading black musicians Stefflon Don and KSI to our #BehindtheBeat series to dive into their process and journey.
