THE ROUNDHOUSE APPOINTS NEW CHAIR SIMON TURNER

The Roundhouse – a charity that transforms the lives of young people through creativity – has appointed a new chair, Simon Turner.

Simon co-founded Inflexion, a mid-market private equity firm, and is joint-chair of the Investment Committee. He is a long standing supporter of The Prince’s Trust and he’s also a trustee of Impetus - The Private Equity Foundation. Simon replaces Chris Satterthwaite following the end of his 6 year term as Roundhouse chair.

The Roundhouse is one of the most incredible live performance spaces in the world where the biggest names in music, theatre, circus and spoken word take to the stage every day. In addition each year, the Roundhouse also gives over 3,500 11–25-year-olds the chance to develop their skills and confidence through creativity – in music, media or the performing arts. It helps them find new perspectives and new directions, whether that’s into education, or out of a rut, or supporting their early career in the arts.

Simon Turner said; “I am thrilled to become Chair of the Roundhouse. I have long admired and respected its commitment to promoting inspiring young artists and attracting some of the world’s top talent to its stage. I look forward to working with Marcus Davey and the board of trustees, and wish Chris Satterthwaite the very best for the future.”

Marcus Davey, chief executive and artistic director, Roundhouse said; “We’re delighted to welcome Simon at such a momentous time for the Roundhouse – 50 years as an arts venue and 10 years since we reopened as a charity.

“His dedication to charities working with young people really inspired us throughout the process and Simon is a highly experienced, successful and widely respected businessman. We know he will provide invaluable leadership in helping us shape our future and support the next generation of young creatives.

“We’re sad to be bidding farewell to Chris who has provided incredible guidance and enthusiasm for our work but we’re looking forward to what the future has in store for the Roundhouse.”

Simon will sit on the board of trustees alongside Nicholas Allott, Ella Bennett, Sally O’Neill, Tony Elliot, Spider J, Adam Knight, Baroness McIntosh of Hudnall, Caspar Norman, Midge Palley, Bob Shennan, Andria Vidler, Phillip Watkins, Pauline Tambling, Penny Woolcock and Sally Wood as well as young trustees Julian Ball and Jason Cheung.
