The Notting Hill Academy Of Music announces Scholarships

The Notting Hill Academy Of Music announces groundbreaking Scholarships for September 2021 with Raw Power Management and Relentless Records

A commitment to new, diverse music industry talent
The Notting Hill Academy of Music has announced new scholarships with Raw Power Management (Bring Me The Horizon, Bullet For My Valentine) and Relentless Records (Headie One, Tom Walker).
The scholarships reflect a commitment to developing new music industry talent from all walks of life and pays the entire 9 month course fees at the renowned music industry college. No other UK record labels or management companies currently offer Music Business scholarships for University level popular music business courses.

The organisations are two of the most successful independent music businesses around, representing a range of musical genres.

“We know many students have lost faith in music education and for good reasons,” says Mark Clayden, CEO of NHAM, “the Academy offers one-year, streamlined courses and is connected directly to the music industry. Give us nine months and we'll give you a career in music.”

The two scholarships are:
The Raw Power Management Craig Jennings Scholarship in Creative Music Business (in association with The Notting Hill Academy of Music and Rose Bruford College)
The Relentless Records Scholarship in Creative Music Business (in association with The Notting Hill Academy of Music and Rose Bruford College)

In addition to in-person teaching based at the Notting Hill Arts Club in London, Notting Hill Academy of Music emphasises real world experience for its students. Raw Power and Relentless will be involved as guests, sharing that unique insight.

Craig Jennings (Raw Power Management):
“The lifeblood of music is those who work behind the scenes - managers, label execs, publicists, marketing managers who develop new artists and break records. We are constantly looking to move rock music forward, so it’s vital to attract a diverse range of new, creative talent from all walks of life. There is a need for quality, practical training for those who perhaps cannot afford to pay for a course like this.
"I am very excited to announce my Raw Power Scholarship with the Notting Hill Academy of Music. I have always supported and worked with up and coming talent in the UK, and this scholarship offers a great opportunity for one very lucky winner."

Ben Coates (Relentless Records):
"We are very excited to announce the Relentless Records Scholarship with the Notting Hill Academy of Music. The Relentless ethos is rooted in supporting up and coming talent, for both artists and executives so the scholarship is a natural extension of that. We have benefited tremendously from our relationship with Notting Hill Academy Of Music and the talent it unearths from different communities, pushing us into new areas and new music. We look forward to helping the next wave of music entrepreneurs on their journey into the industry.”

Relentless partners with the legendary West London independent music venue Notting Hill Arts Club that has hosted countless global stars such as Ed Sheeran, The Libertines, Lily Allen, Mark Ronson and more. Crucially, for many of these artists, their performance came at the start of their career, highlighting the venue's longstanding commitment to championing new talent.

By day, the venue is a classroom for the Notting Hill Academy Of Music - a music business school that offers vocational courses to get young people in the door of the music industry. It has been a huge success with many alumni now working in their dream jobs, such as Rob Ukaegbu who signed Headie One to Relentless Records, Josephine Atie at Sony ATV, Dan Owusu, label boss at Dream Life Records and David Sonubi, who alongside his brother, Jojo, founded No Signal radio station.

Raw Power management represents some of the loudest acts on the planet, with more than twenty groups of the most vital performers (including Bullet For My Valentine, Bring Me The Horizon and The Damned), producers, and songwriters in the world. They also have producer and label arms of the company (Funhouse Producers, Search And Destroy records).

For over two decades, Relentless has propelled homegrown British talent, taking them from the underground scene to mainstream prominence. The label’s diverse range of greatest hits include So Solid Crew’s ’21 Seconds’, Daniel Bedingfield ‘Gotta Get Thru This’, DJ Pied Piper and the Masters of Ceremonies’ ‘Do You Really Like It?’, KT Tunstall’s ‘Suddenly I See’, Lethal Bizzle’s ‘Pow’, and more recently, Headie One’s ‘Ain’t It Different’.
