The Music Walk Of Fame confirms 19 November in Camden for Founding Stone and first artist stone unveiling

On 19^th November 2019, Camden Town, London will officially become home to the global Music Walk of Fame. Designed as a new cultural attraction for London, The Music Walk of Fame will become a huge accolade for the music industry. The Music Walk of Fame is proud to announce that the augmented reality embedded founding stone and the first artist stone will be unveiled with a special ceremony attended by music legends including the recipient of the first artist stone. Taking place on 19 November in the heart of Camden at Britannia Junction the two stones will create the first location for the planned series of stones and what will be the starting point of a musical pilgrimage for locals as well as people from all around the globe.

This historic and unforgettable moment for London and the music industry will celebrate our the industry's deep cultural heritage and its impact on the wider world. Making this cultural attraction a reality, the Music Walk of Fame has assembled a highly credible and esteemed group of committee members ahead of the unveiling of the initial recipients. These members include Queen's Roger Taylor,Trinifold Management, acclaimed rock photographer Jill Furmanovsky, Food Records label boss Andy Ross, renowned producer and DJ Paul Oakenfold, American rap-pioneer Kurtis Blow, Chris McCormack of Camden Rocks / Three Colours Red, Recording Academy™ executive Branden Chapman, and British musician and Libertines co-frontman Carl Barat. Many more committee members will be announced at a later date.

As part of the Music Walk of Fame experience and the journey it will take visitors on, there will be an exciting AR experience supported by an official event app, available from launch. App users will be able to scan each stone to activate exclusive content and animations brought to life by state-of-the-art technology. Visitors to the Walk can expect unseen, rare and exclusive footage, information and anecdotes that will transform Camden into a living museum of music history and the app will be an essential guide to the music fan as they arrive in Camden. The Music Walk of Fame app will be available on iOS from launch, with Android to follow.

Attracting a staggering 26 million visitors a year, Camden welcomes the first stone being laid to mark the global brand in this iconic London destination. Deputy Mayor for Culture and the Creative Industries, Justine Simons said: "London is renowned around the world for its thriving music scene and Camden's legendary venues have been a driving force behind our city's success. So where better to celebrate the musicians who have such an impact on all our lives? The music walk of fame is a great way to celebrate these artists and inspire even more people to visit Camden."

Lee Bennett, Founder of Music Walk of Fame: "I'm overjoyed to see what was originally an ambitious idea many years ago come to fruition. We see this as a seminal moment for the music industry, a celebration of musicians and performers that creates a new outlet for the fan to engage in. Kurtis Blow said: "The UK has given the world so much by creating and nurturing so many scenes and Artists. I'm honored to be on the International Voting Committee and look forward to seeing many Hip Hop Artists receive their stone."

Chris McCormack, Camden Rocks / Three Colours Red commented: "Music is such an important part of my life, and billions of people's lives across the world, which is why I'm really happy to have been invited onto the selection panel for the Music Walk of Fame and helping to choose who and what is celebrated and immortalised on the streets of Camden Town."

Andy Ross, Food Records said "I'm very pleased to have been invited into the fold of Camden and the global music industry's luminaries. As a vet of 30 years or so patrolling the precinct and inflicting Britpop on a generation, I look forward to contributing to the recognition of people and venues who brought Camden to the attention of the world."
