The Greyhound Peckham opens

A proper South London boozer, reimagined by the team behind All My Friends and The Cause

109 Peckham High St, London SE15 5SE

Located in the beating heart of Peckham,
The Greyhound pub will re-open its doors this March under the careful reimagination of London’s much-loved DIY party crew - The Cause. Promising to keep much of its vintage charm, the South London boozer will be reinvented with a touch of TLC.

The Greyhound will see two weekends (Thursdays to Sundays) of move-in parties to iron out any kinks, with the kitchen opening on Tuesday 19th March.  Programming will be led by the team behind leading London spaces The Cause and All My Friends. The Greyhound follows The Cause’s blueprint of creating much-loved spaces with close-knit communities. Expect events such as live gigs, zine fairs, markets and loads more for their locals. Of course, as it’s all masterminded by revered party crew The Cause, a large part of The Greyhound’s focus will also be music.

Programming will feature a heavy focus on South London centric collectives, crews and DJ's associated with the likes of Rye Wax, Balamii, Dash The Henge and the Rising Sun Collective, such as Ambient Babestation Meltdown, FYI Chris, Meg Paine, Richard Sen, Tom Unlikely and Al White’s 'Avant Practiced' jam. The Cause's former & current residents will also play alongside the odd special guest, plus there will also be regular pub quizzes with a musical twist!

The Soundsystem will be installed by DI Audio, the suppliers who have installed The Cause's largest room, Studio 100 AKA The Warehouse. Open 6 days a week with a 1.30am closing time on their license, The Greyhound’s later opening hours means it’ll be an ideal late night hangout on Peckham high street.

The full kitchen concept is delivered by Neil Gill, both an avid fan of The Cause and a serial restaurant entrepreneur who over the last decade has founded a small collection of neighbourhood eateries and bars in North London: Season Kitchen, The Lamb Beer & Liquor, Gilly’s Fry Bar, Goods Office and Deli At 80. Neil will be taking his kitchen mastery South of the river for the first time, bringing his experience and culinary skills to curate the food offering at The Greyhound.  Bookings for food are open now via thegreyhound.uk, with 1/3 off for the first week's advance bookings, including their take on Sunday roasts.

‘After a few years away from the game, I’m delighted to be joining the good people of The Cause for this special project and reinventing what a classic London boozer should be from a modern culinary angle’ - Neil Gill (Restaurateur and Consultant)

The snacks don’t just stop there too, The Greyhound will also pay homage to its name, with dogs being catered for in every sense, with a full dog menu of dog beer and treats for your best friends to join in.

The Greyhound’s original space has been upgraded with lush interiors across the pub's 240 capacity two floors and outdoor area. The team have worked tirelessly to ensure that The Greyhound will be a friendly, socially-led space that will provide a home for Peckham’s vibrant people to share and socialise. The team are even offering a free drink to everyone who signs up - by just heading to thegreyhound.co.uk, you can get your hands on a free bevvie.

A meeting of minds in the pub trade, hospitality world and clubland, the site has been creatively redesigned by by Eugene Wild, co-founder of The Cause, with the renovation and rebuild of the project executed by The Cause team alongside many South London music heads including Warren Mansfield (Zsa Zsa Sapien), Nathan Saoudi (Fat White Family / Dash The Henge). Oliver Mosley (Meat Raffle dancer) and will be managed by Matt Pryer (former General Manager of Rye Wax.) This dream team of passionate and creative people promise to do The Greyhound justice as they breathe a new lease of live into the space.

‘Nearly nine months in the making, we are really proud to present our latest venture, our first tip toe into the pub game, with a twist we all hope you will love! The food, drinks, music and programming have been curated to complement each other, with a view to keeping you entertained from all angles all day. Just what a boozer should be about’ - Eugene Wild (Co-founder, The Cause)

Located on Peckham High Street, The Greyhound is easily accessible from the overground and has plenty of travel options. To know what's happening at The Greyhound week in, week out, keep a close eye on their instagram page or head to Thegreyhound.uk and sign up to the mailing list.
