MUBUTV Is Set To Relaunch February 28, 2023
A Variety of New Content Slated Including The Debut of the ‘MUBUTV: Insider Podcast’ Featuring Some of the Biggest Names in the Industry


MUBUTV (Music Business Television) is set to return and relaunch the brand on February 28, 2023. Returning after a long hiatus due to setbacks from the global pandemic, the channel is back with a whole new programming line up including all new episodes of its flagship show the ‘MUBUTV: Insider Video Series’, as well the introduction of several new programs including a How-To instructional series for artists, weekly music business news segments, YouTube live streaming events, as well as the debut of the ‘MUBUTV: Insider Podcast’. MUBUTV’s new Insider Podcast, takes an in depth look and deep dive into the many challenges and nuances of what it takes to build a viable and sustainable career in today’s new music business. 

Featuring conversations with some of the biggest names in the business including: veteran record producer Mike Clink [Guns N’ Roses], leading independent artist and author Ari Herstand, legendary A&R Executive John Kalodner [AC/DC, Aerosmith, Cher], Marketing expert Amber Horsburgh, and veteran radio personality Nic Harcourt [KCRW ‘Morning Becomes Eclectic’] among others. The podcast is hosted by Ritch Esra and Eric Knight, co-founders of the platform. “We realized that so many of the systems that were in place to support the launch and breaking of new artists no longer exist any more”, says Esra. “Now it’s the artist's responsibility, and remember we no longer live in an era where there is just one path towards success”, exclaims Knight. 

The debut episode of the podcast features world renowned music attorney and author who literally wrote the bible for the music industry, ‘All You Need To Know About The Music Business’, Don Passman. The premiere of the MUBUTV: Insider Podcast will air on Tuesday February 28, 2023, with new episodes to follow every Tuesday thereafter. With the new episodes of the MUBUTV: Insider Video Series, the viewer gets a masterclass each and every week on a different aspect of what it takes to develop, launch and break an artist in today’s music industry. We get up close and personal with many of today's leading music executives who are on the front lines of; A&R, Music Publishing, Artist Management, Touring, Marketing, Publicity and International markets. New episodes include conversations with leading music executives such as; Kenny “Tick” Salcido (SR of VP/Head of A&R Red Bull Records), Sas Metcalfe (President, Global Creative Kobalt Music), Gary Spivack (Executive Sr. VP/Talent Curation, Danny Wimmer Presents). 

In addition, viewers will get a treasure trove of previously unreleased content from the ‘Insider Series’ including interviews with; veteran record producer Howard Benson (Kelly Clarkson, Santana, Motorhead), head of music for NBC Universal Alicen Catron Schneider, festival promoter Kevin Lyman (Vans Warped Tour), artist manager Andy Gould (Rob Zombie, Pantera) and hit songwriter Shelly Peiken (Christina Aguilera, Meredith Brooks) among others.The series also has an international focus with leading experts from around the globe including; Australian concert promoter Michael Chugg (Chugg Entertainment), UK artist manager Andy Farrow (Opeth, Devin Townshend, Paradise Lost), Canadian Music Week founder Neil Dixon, and George Ergatoudis formerly of BBC Radio and now head of Apple Music UK and many others. 

The MUBUTV: Insider Series will premiere on Wednesday March 1, 2023 at 10 AM EST, with new episodes released each week on Wednesdays at 10 AM EST. The principles behind MUBUTV are Ritch Esra and Eric Knight. Esra, the founder of ‘The Music Business Registry’ has an extensive background in music business education (UCLA, Musicians Institute) and was a former A&R Executive at Arista Records. Knight is a recording artist with rock act Disciples of Babylon and founder of artist management company Persistent Management based in Los Angeles. “There's been a revolution over the last decade in the music business. In today's landscape the major labels no longer develop artists from the ground up. Today, labels are amplifiers", says Esra. Knight concurs and adds, "In today’s music industry, the artist has more power to reach their audience than at any other time in the history of the music business."
