Take That break their own record for the most shows played by any artist at the O2

Record is the most show for any artist in venue’s 12 year history

34 headline shows and performances at The BRIT Awards (x2), Capital Jingle Bell Ball and O2’s Wear The Rose

The band has sold over 501,000 tickets at The O2

On Thursday 2 May, Take That bring their critically acclaimed Greatest Hits Live Tour to The O2 for a run of eight shows. The band, who have been playing to sell-out crowds across the UK and Ireland since the 12 April, will be breaking their own record for the most shows played at the venue. Their final performance will mark 34 headline shows - more than any other artist in its 12 year history.

The band first performed at The O2 in 2007 and over a decade later has sold over half a million tickets. They beat the sales record recently claimed by Michael McIntyre (with over 409,000).

Their latest residency is in addition to eight sell-out shows in 2017 and 2008; a New Year’s Eve performance in 2008; a Jingle Bell Ball performance in 2014; appearances at The BRIT Awards in 2011 and again in 2015, plus a run of ten shows and a special appearance at the Rugby World Cup’s Wear The Rose in that year.

Upon receiving the news, Take That said: “Our 30th Anniversary tour is very special to us and we’re so grateful for all the love and support from our fans over the last 30 years. We’re incredibly proud to hold the record for the most shows at The O2, it’s a fantastic venue with a truly unique atmosphere and we’ve had some brilliant nights there!”

Chris Dempsey, Director of Take That’s management company YMU Music, said, “This is an incredible achievement by a band that seems to get better as the years go by. To mean so much to so many people 30 years into their careers is testament to their huge talent, their brilliant songs and their ambitious, standard setting live performances and productions.”

Vice President of Venue Programming, Emma Bownes, said: “Take That’s live shows are always spectacular and to break the record for the number of tickets sold by any artist is testament to how incredible their shows are. We’ve already inducted Take That into The 21 Club and to still be celebrating records with them today is brilliant. We’d like to thank them and their team for 12 years of remarkable shows.”
