Susan Rogers receives top Music Producers Guild Award

The Music Producers Guild are delighted to honour record producer, sound engineer and professor Susan Rogers with the PPL Present The MPG Award For Outstanding Contribution To UK Music. Previous winners include Hugh Padgham, Youth, Paul Epworth and George Martin.

Susan is well known as being staff engineer for Prince from 1983-1987, delivering five albums and working on hit records including Purple Rain and Sign o' the Times. Susan has also produced and mixed records for David Byrne, Barenaked Ladies and Tricky. She is currently a professor at Berklee College of Music and runs a not-for-profit studio called The Record Company in Boston, MA.

Susan is the first female recipient of this prestigious award, highlighting the work the MPG are doing to ensure women are fully represented in the industry. The MPG board of directors is now 60% female and female membership is also at 13% - up from 5% in 2016.  In addition, for the first time a female nominee is featured in all but one of this year's award categories.

This is a gifted award by the Music Producers Guild Awards Committee and is presented to a person who has made an outstanding contribution to the music industry. The announcement comes before the full 2021 MPG Award winners are announced on the 10^th June. A change from the annual awards ceremony at The Grosvenor House Hotel, due to Covidrestrictions winners will be announced online and supported with interviews and winner content throughout June and July.
