Studio Monkey Shoulder is a new music initiative from Monkey Shoulder and Worldwide FM dedicated to empowering and celebrating innovative grassroots music communities who are contributing to the rich tapestry of music across the globe. A £10,000 fund as well as support from Monkey Shoulder and Worldwide FM will be awarded to five music communities across the globe to bring to life an original project. 

WHO IS IT FOR - From independent record stores to live venues and radio stations, we want to support the trailblazing communities where people connect, create and discover music. 

THE PLEDGE - We're awarding £10,000 each to five communities around the world to help bring to life an original project. We'll also tell their stories through a series of films, events and radio broadcasts on Worldwide FM 

KEY DATES – Launching on 2^nd April, applications must be submitted by 9th May 2024

Worldwide FM is an award-winning community and platform, passionate about highlighting underground music, alternative perspectives culture and stories from across the globe. Worldwide FM will be working with Studio Monkey Shoulder to uncover incredible community-driven projects and provide support to musicians, including producing films and radio broadcasts that help bring to life their stories. 

Gilles Peterson is a broadcaster, DJ and record collector who helms independent record label Brownswood Recordings and is the founder of online radio station Worldwide FM. With an innate ability to unearth hidden musical gems and champion emerging artists, Gilles will bring his expertise to Studio Monkey Shoulder by helping to discover projects with the potential to move culture forward. 

Commenting on the initiative, Gilles states: “This is exactly why I started Worldwide FM and there are so many other incredible community driven projects out there I want to uncover, which is what excites me about Studio Monkey Shoulder. We have no idea where this is going to take us but can’t wait to see and hear it”.
