Spinnup UK moves up a gear with Universal Music On Demand



 

  • The global digital distribution platform for independent artists, Spinnup, is now powered by the chart-topping, award-winning Universal Music On Demand (UMOD) label in the UK; branching out into educational, live and commercial ventures, establishing themselves as a growing force in the booming market.
  • First UMOD artist signings discovered via the platform announced: London-based Nigerian afro-pop solo act A.T, indie singer-songwriter Devon from The Forest Of Dean, and Italian house producer Manuel Costa.
  • UMOD’s sold out showcase at The Great Escape kicked off a year of Spinnup-branded events including partnerships with Kiss FM DJs Daisy Maskell & Shortee Blitz, Abbey Road, Sundown Festival and a stage at BBC Introducing Live.

 

Spinnup, the distribution platform originally launched in Sweden in 2013 by Universal Music Group, has accelerated its presence in the UK under the wing of the chart-topping and award-winning Universal Music On Demand (UMOD) label in the UK, establishing new ventures and partnerships in 2019, as well as increasing its breadth of service and attracting a stellar base of new users.

The platform, fast becoming to the go to place for artists taking their first steps into the industry, allows artists to distribute their music to all major streaming platforms whilst keeping 100% of their rights and royalties.

Unique to the platform, Spinnup also operates as a cutting-edge A&R tool with the team at UMOD constantly listening to new music uploaded. The label has a growing team dedicated to spotting the best and most popular tracks bubbling up and has already announced their first artist signings discovered via the platform: London-based Nigerian afro-pop solo act A.T, indie singer-songwriter Devon from The Forest of Dean, and Italian house producer Manuel Costa.

It has also recruited an official network of student Spinnup Ambassadors up and down the country.

UMOD have been busy taking the platform on the road giving artists the opportunity to perform live at the likes of The Great Escape, Soho Music Month, mainstage at Sundown Festival and a bespoke urban talent contest hosted by Kiss FM Breakfast Show presenter Daisy Maskell and legendary Kiss FM / ITV2 hip-hop DJ Shortee Blitz in Shoreditch. Next up is a competition for an act to win a chance to play the Spinnup stage at BBC Introducing Live.
