Spinnin’ Records has entered into a JV with Kanary Records

Spinnin’ Records, a global leader in dance, has entered into a JV with KANARY RECORDS, a prominent independent dance label and publisher. KANARY is a rising star record label and music publisher with a multimedia and fashion division, run by brothers Alex and Christopher Van den Hoef, who also make up multi-Platinum production duo DVBBS.

Jorn Heringa, Head of A&R, Spinnin’ Records, says: “We are delighted to join forces with Alex and Christopher, reigniting our relationship from over a decade ago. Both brothers bring deep expertise and knowledge to the table and will work harder than anyone else to develop and drive KANARY to new heights with us. Welcome back to Spinnin’!”

Alex and Chris Van den Hoef add: “We couldn’t be happier to combine forces with the dream team over at Spinnin’ Records, and we’re excited to expand our partnership with Warner Music Group. To be able to continue our relationship for a decade plus is very rare in this industry and it’s starting to really feel like a real family.”

Growing up in Canada, the Van den Hoef brothers always had a love for music. While their path towards becoming the incredibly successful artist duo they are today was fraught with challenges, they knew there was no other field for them. Playing in mostly punk and pop bands from the age of 12, the brothers transitioned into dance and electronic music production more than decade ago and haven’t looked back. Together, they have performed at more than a thousand shows and festivals, including Lollapalooza, Tomorrowland, and Ultra, traveling and touring in more than 70 countries.

The duo has ranked in the Top 20 in the DJ MAG TOP 100 list multiple times, won the 2014 “Track of the Year” prize from EMPO Awards, received two nominations from Canada’s Juno Awards, and were credited as the 2021 “Electronic Dance/Electronic Artist/Group or Duo of the Year” at the Canadian Music Week — Indie Awards.

KANARY has a strong line of up-and-coming artists on their roster, including ARKADE, BAD NONNO & DAYFIVE. These artists already have full support and distribution through Spinnin’ Records, one of the world biggest dance labels.

The partnership with KANARY tops what has been a huge year for Spinnin’ Records, with new music from Alok, Don Diablo, Gabry Ponte, Lucas & Steve, Lum!x, Mike Williams, R3hab, Tiesto and Timmy Trumpet; the launch of new innovative projects for its artists in the metaverse; hitting 30 million subscribers on YouTube; and a global expansion with new roles being created in Beijing, London and Los Angeles.
