FULL PROGRAMME & SPEAKERS ANNOUNCED FOR MUSIC CONNECTED 2016

A host of senior music business figures have been confirmed for AIM’s Music Connected event – the UK’s largest digital music conference taking place on Wednesday 27th April at London’s historic Glaziers Hall.

Music Connected 2016 (in association with CI) focuses on independent music companies operating in the digital market, offering a tightly targeted day of networking, deal-making, practical digital business advice and enlightening conference sessions. 

The line up of speakers and conference sessions can now be announced, and includes: 

- Presentation “Know Your Customer” from Chris Carey, CEO of boutique research agency Media Insight Consulting.  Presenting exclusive data on the UK market, how consumers are behaving and what indie labels can do understand their customer and – most importantly - how to turn those insights in to actions.

-  A panel entitled “The Future of Social Marketing in Music” - with the rising dominance of messaging apps including Snapchat, Whatsapp and Facebook Messenger, we consider the future of social marketing in music. A panel of experts explore the opportunities for marketing music via messaging apps, and the challenges presented in terms of tracking and monetising that activity. Speakers include Katie Ray (Method Music), Claire Mas (Communion Records), Lucy Blair (Motive Unknown), Dan Ayers (Seven League, formerly Director of Digital Services at Sony), Roberta Hickey (LoveLive) and chaired by Stu Dredge (Music Ally). 

-  A session entitled “Streaming Playlist Strategy for 2016 and Beyond” will offer up to date information on how the streaming and playlist market has changed over the last 12 months as well as provide an update on AIM’s independent streaming platform project. Speakers include David Emery (Kobalt Label Services), Sammy Andrews (Strategic Advisor to the Music Industry & Director of Entertainment Intelligence), Justin Barker (Slice Music), Zac Vibert (!K7 Artist & Label Services), Adam Cardew (Absolute Label Services) and chaired by Tim Ingham (Music Business Worldwide).

-  A presentation of the marketing campaign for Run The Jewels’ ‘Run The Jewels 2’, from The Other Hand’s Siofra McComb and Motive Unknown’s Darren Hemmings. 

-  A session entitled “Whose Data Is It Anyway?” considering all the issues around data in the music industry, including; sales and listening data, business models which involve data, gaps in the supply chain, data held by collecting societies, how third parties use your data and simple steps to taking control of your own data in future campaigns. Speakers include Will Page (Spotify), Robert Kaye (MusicBrainz) and Tijl de Bie (University of Ghent) and chaired by The state51 Conspiracy’s Paul Sanders.

- A panel discussion entitled “Shaping the Future of the Music Business” – a new generation of independent and creative entrepreneurs and some of digital music’s finest give their visions of the future of the music market and how they are driving change. Speakers include Benji Rogers (Pledge Music), Phil Hutcheon (DICE.fm), Bas Grasmayer (MUSIC x TECH x FUTURE) and chair Karim Fanous (Music Ally).

There will also be smaller break out workshops held in the event’s Board Room, including a presentation “Dissecting the Digital Dollar” from CMU Insights’ Chris Cooke.

In addition to the packed conference programme, the Digital Market Place will offer stands hosted by a raft of top digital music companies.
