SourceAudio Promotes Weston McGowen to Global Head of Catalog Services
31 October 2025 - Press release
SourceAudio, the music industry’s most widely adopted sync platform and a leader in AI music dataset licensing, has promoted Weston McGowen to Global Head of Catalog Services. He is based in New Orleans and will report to SourceAudio Co-Founder & CEO Andrew Harding.
Having previously served as VP of Music Partnerships, McGowen will now oversee SourceAudio’s global catalog ecosystem, including client operations, metadata, and rights-management infrastructure for the company’s extensive network of rightsholders, publishers, broadcasters, and media partners. He will also direct SourceAudio’s Rights and Royalties Division, which includes SourceAudio Collect, the company’s publishing-administration arm representing more than 1.6 million works.
Altogether, the SourceAudio platform powers more than 50 million assets across over 140 broadcasters and entertainment networks, including Netflix, Warner Bros. Discovery, Amazon, iHeartRadio, and Audacy.
“Weston has already made a major impact at SourceAudio – from leading the launch of our Mood Magic Music educational product to bringing high-value independent labels and catalogs onto the platform,” said Harding. “As we expand global sync opportunities and accelerate growth in our AI dataset licensing business, catalogs and labels are seeing entirely new revenue streams emerge. Weston’s deep publishing expertise and proven track record in rights management make him the perfect leader to help us continue building the most complete 360° rights management and monetization platform in music.”
“SourceAudio has been one of the most powerful engines in the music rights ecosystem for well over a decade, but we’re only just beginning to unlock what’s possible for creators and companies operating at global scale,” said McGowen. “My focus is to evolve the platform beyond delivery into a full-stack rights, data, and monetization network that empowers every participant in the value chain. That includes creating an infrastructure with competitive resources and services for not only the production-music industry but also the commercial-music sector – one rooted in mobility, interoperability, and true ownership of your data.”
Before joining SourceAudio, McGowen served as Global Head of Commercial Partnerships at Endel, the German functional-music DSP and neuroscience-backed soundscape company recognized as Apple Watch App of the Year in 2019. There, he led initiatives for Fortune 100 brands like Wells Fargo. He also worked as Director of Commercial Partnerships at Create Music Group, where he oversaw partnerships for The Nations, a YouTube multi-channel network and label group with over 70 million subscribers, and its sister label, Lowly.
In addition, McGowen is the co-founder of Equal Songs with multi-Platinum producer and songwriter Stefan Skarbek. Equal is a boutique publishing and label venture representing a respected roster of artists, songwriters, producers, and engineers, with holdings that include catalogs affiliated with Amy Winehouse, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, the Spice Girls, and Sugababes. He also serves as Chief Catalog Officer at Mirrorball Entertainment, the company founded by Skarbek and Grammy-winning mixer Tony Maserati, which administers publishing in global hits such as “Watermelon Sugar” and “Sign of the Times” by three-time Grammy Award-winner Harry Styles.
McGowen is also the architect of the Global Music Export Exchange (GMEX), an initiative developing modern creative-trade infrastructure that connects cities, industries, and nations through music, technology, and commerce. Most recently, McGowen has collaborated with groups such as the UK Government’s Department for Trade and the City of New Orleans, shaping frameworks for how culture and commerce intersect on a global scale.
