Sounds magazine returns

Sounds launched in 1971 and was juxtaposed to the weeklies of the time, Melody Maker and NME as it sought out the kids at the gigs who were producing and writing for fanzines, they were fans of music. Exactly 28 years after it closed in 1991 and in the face of the recent print demise of both NME and its stablemate Melody Maker, like the rebirth of vinyl in a digital world, Sounds will be the future proof music magazine to spearhead the music press revival.

Issue #1 features a collectable cover shot by Ian Tilton of an exhausted and tearful Kurt Cobain which was hailed by Q Magazine as one of the 6 best rock photographs of all time. Inside Sounds you can read an interview with Ian about the image, his time with Nirvana in the early years and his time as a photographer with Sounds.

The first edition will be a limited print run available May 2019 from Rough Trade Nottingham, London, Bristol, Brooklyn NYC, Fop Stores and many more independent music stores.
