Sony Music Publishing Appoints Jordi Tello as Managing Director of Iberia

Today Sony Music Publishing announced the promotion of Jordi Tello to Managing Director of Iberia, effective immediately.  Tello will succeed longtime SMP Spain MD Juan Ignacio Alonso, who retired at the end of August.

As Managing Director, Tello will be responsible for overseeing creative and business operations across Spain and Portugal, strengthening key relationships with clients and industry partners, and expanding global support for SMP songwriters. He will continue to be based out of Madrid and will report directly to Sony Music Publishing President, International Guy Henderson.

On the appointment of Jordi Tello as MD, Sony Music Publishing President, International Guy Henderson said, "I am so pleased that Jordi will take over the reigns as Managing Director for SMP Iberia. On the retirement of Juan Ignacio Alonso, Sony Music Publishing President, International Guy Henderson said, “Juan Ignacio Alonso has led our company in Iberia with great distinction and continued success over many years. He has positioned our team for further growth on all fronts, and we are incredibly grateful for all that he has done for the company and for the Spanish music industry.”

Tello first joined the company in April 2024 as A&R Director and since then has signed or worked closely with top talent including Rels B, Arde Bogotá, Morad, RVFV, Cruz Cafuné, Barry B, Rigoberta Bandin, Belén Aguilera, Rodrigo Cuevas, Grecas, Julieta, Vicco, Marlena, Fernando Veláquez, Andres Yuma, Came Beats, Pablo Rouss, Yarea and more.    With over twenty-five years of creative experience, Tello began his career as a musician (Yoghurt Daze, Rick Brendan), moving into the music business side of the industry in 1999 as an A&R for Warner Music.  From 2002, Tello spent 15 years at Universal Music Publishing, latterly as A&R Director, to join Sony Music as an A&R Director in 2017, before returning to music publishing at SMP last year.
