Songpact Announces India Launch: Bringing Fast, Transparent and Accessible Music Contracts to Creators
31 October 2025 - Press releaseIndia’s music industry is having its global moment. Streaming has reshaped listening habits, Indian artists are finding audiences far beyond their home borders, and the country is now one of the world’s fastest-growing music markets - with more than 185 million streamers and double-digit annual growth.
But while the music has moved forward, the paperwork behind it has not. Too many deals are still built on delayed timelines, confusing documents, informal promises or expensive legal processes, leaving creators exposed at the moments that matter most.
On 10 November,Songpact will launch in India with a simple mission: to make professional music contracts fast, fair, and accessible for every creator - not just the top 1%.
A New Era of Accessible Music Contracts
“Throughout my professional journey, I’ve always endeavoured to make legal assistance and guidance available to all types of creators, across different stages of their careers and economic strata”, says Priyanka Khimani, Co-Founder and Strategic Advisor at Songpact. “India is a diverse and large country, and technology is one of our biggest assets when it comes to serving the community at scale. Songpact coming to India will be an affordable, pocket-friendly solution that’ll enable artists and their teams to create, negotiate and manage their everyday contracts”.
Explaining how Songpact works, Priyanka adds:
“The idea was to make the experience of creating contracts as friendly and intuitive as possible. Instead of endless mark-ups of Word documents, users answer clear, straightforward questions in-platform about the commercial terms, with easy-to-follow explainers along the way to create and negotiate a draft contract in minutes”.
Once terms are agreed, Songpact automatically generates a robust, plain-English contract based on those terms, which is then e-signed and securely stored - all within the one platform. And unlike the traditional process, Songpact is available 24/7.
“The rest of the music industry has adapted and evolved, with cutting-edge tools for live, distribution, marketing and management” said Nick Weaser, Co-Founder and CEO of Songpact. “But throughout the world, the music contract process has remained exactly the same for decades. We’re changing that.Songpact isn’t just about contracts. It’s about empowering creators with access, knowledge, confidence, and a sense of fairness. It levels the playing field.”
Songpact will be available in India through tiered subscription plans - from free-to-join with pay-as-you-go credits, to paid plans starting at just ₹2,099/month, where users regularly receive a bundle of discounted credits that accumulate over time.
India Joins Songpact’s Global Rollout
India becomes the latest market in Songpact’s global expansion, following launches in the UK, Australia and South Africa.
“We are incredibly proud to bring Songpact to India” adds Weaser.“It’sone of the world’s most dynamic and burgeoning music markets, and home to some extraordinary creative talent. But like everywhere else, the contracting process is archaic and expensive, often forcing creators to choose between paying heavily, risking a handshake deal, or worse, skipping the paperwork entirely. Songpact removes that barrier and makes professional music contracts accessible to everyone”.
