Sonar 2025 cements its status as a one-of-a-kind festival with nearly 150 premieres, co-productions, and exclusives, sparking both dancing and discovery

Sónar Week once again turns Barcelona into the international epicenter of electronic and digital culture, with more than 200 events and projects presented in collaboration with leading artistic, scientific and technological institutions. 

• Sónar 2025 presents an agenda-setting lineup with exclusive premieres such as Grasa, the brand-new show —being performed for the first time in Spain— by Nathy Peluso, who will perform twice and also present the previously unheard DJ set Club Grasa, showcasing the electronic side of this multifaceted artist. Other artists presenting unique live shows include Arca, Pa Salieu, Raül Refree + Niño de Elche, Herbert & Momoko, Maria Arnal, Actress & Suzanne Cianni, and Alva Noto & Fennesz, in a tribute to Ryuichi Sakamoto.
   
• The festival also features large-scale audiovisual shows by artists such asEric Prydz, Peggy Gou, BICEP, Overmono, Max Cooper, Daito Manabe, and Cora Novoa, alongside a dream team of DJs that blends iconic names in electronic music with the latest sensations in dance music: Four Tet, Honey Dijon, Dixon, Helena Hauff, Barry Can’t Swim, MOCHAKK, Jayda G, and Vintage Culture. Additionally, standout back-to-back sets include Skrillex b2b Blawan, Dee Diggs b2b Ultra Naté, and Armin van Buuren b2b Indira Paganotto.
   
• The lineup is rounded out with eagerly anticipated live sets from talents from across the sonic spectrum such as Yerai Cortés, Polo & Pan, TETO PRETO, Josh Caffé, Dengue Dengue Dengue, Lord Spikeheart, Lua de Santana, and Samantha Hudson, among many others. All this, as well as one of the most unmissable shows at Sónar 2025; Room with a View, a powerful performance by French producer Rone in collaboration with the (LA)HORDEcollective and the Ballet National de Marseille—a production celebrated on stages worldwide and now featured for the first time at a music festival.
   
• Standout artists from the local and national scene include Raül Refree + Niño de Elche, presenting cru+es, and the premiere of Ama, the groundbreaking new show from Maria Arnal —part of the AI & Music powered by S+T+ARTSprogram— which is the culmination of several years of research by the artist into artificial intelligence and the human voice. Also featured on the line up are Chano Domínguez & Bronquio —a co-production between Taller de Músics and SGAE— És Pregunta by Tarta Relena —co-produced by Sónar and Fira Mediterrània— super-producer Alizzz in support of his latest album and the Sónar debut of rising Catalan star Mushka.
   
• Once again, Sónar’s selection of new talents spans the spectrum of sounds and genres: from the fast-paced techno of Sama’ Abdulhadi and Andres Campo, to the slow and minimalist baile funk of Anderson do Paraíso; from Tim Reaper’s high-energy jungle, to dubstep from Hamdi, MCR-T’s take on Ghetto House, Le Motel’s frenetic take on multiple styles, eurotrance via DJ HEARTSTRING, and darker, underground techno and house from Saoirse b2b Ryan Elliott and Flore b2b Peder Mannerfelt.
   
• Sónar+D 2025, the festival’s congress on creative technologies and digital culture, explores the new horizons of creativity and the arts in the age of omnipresent AI. The event features interactive forums, roundtables, masterclasses, performative conferences, presentations, and workshops, as well as dozens of exhibits by artists, technologists, scientists, visionaries, and radical thinkers in audiovisual art, music, engineering, quantum computing, and interface design.
   
• This year, the congress program is organized around three thematic pillars: AI + Creativity, presenting innovative tools and alternative approaches to artificial intelligence in artistic production; Imagining the Future of Creative Industries, reflecting on the changes and opportunities facing the sector, and Worlds to Come, exploring emerging scenarios that will define the relationship between technology, culture, and society in the future.
   
• Sónar Week, from Tuesday June 10 to Sunday June 15, will transform Barcelona into a global epicenter of music, innovation, and creativity. It will do so in collaboration with leading cultural and music institutions in the city: the third edition of the +RAIN Film Festival, the first European festival dedicated to AI-generated cinema (co-organized by Universitat Pompeu Fabra and Sónar+D); the group exhibition The Art of Navigating: How to Get Lost in a World of Images by Fundación Foto Colectania; and the SonarMiesseries at the Mies van der Rohe Pavilion, which will become an R&D lab via Sensitive Interface—a project focused on accessibility and improving the festival experience for all attendees, developed in collaboration with BAU College of Arts and Design Barcelona.
   
• As every year, OFFSónar will feature major figures and labels from the international club scene at a series of events at Poble Espanyol. Two special concerts are also scheduled: one to open the edition at the Palau de la Música, and another to close it at the Fundació Joan Miró—the latter marking the 50th anniversary of the institution. The closing concert will be an intimate format featuring Yerai Cortés (guitar) and Arto (effects), with lighting by Andreu Fábregas.

• The 32nd edition of Sónar, Barcelona’s International Festival of Music, Innovation, and Creativity, will be one of the most exciting and diverse in recent years. In total, Sónar 2025 presents over 200 activities and performances from 36 countries across 10 stages at Sónar by Day and Sónar by Night, as well as at Sónar+D spaces. These include concerts, DJ sets, multidisciplinary performances, masterclasses, talks, debates, and creative-tech projects from around the world.
   
• Among the most anticipated debuts is the dazzling new show from three-time Latin Grammy winner Nathy Peluso. The Argentine star will perform twice on the night of Saturday, June 14: first with the Spanish premiere of her new album Grasa, and then with Club Grasa, b2b2b DJ set alongside other artists, showing off the electronic side of this multifaceted artist. 
   
• Sónar 2025 will also host new live shows from mouldbreaking artists such as Arca —following her acclaimed Coachella appearance—, cult classic producer and composer Matthew Herbert alongside percussionist and vocalist Momoko Hill, rising UK rap star Pa Salieu, the retro-futurist French touch of Polo & Pan, the radical and provocative artist Samantha Hudson with Música para muñecas, and Alva Noto & Fennesz reuniting on stage for Continuum, a tribute to Ryuichi Sakamoto.
   
• Spectacular new audiovisual performances will also be served up by South Korean producer Peggy Gou, and electronic titans Eric Prydz and BICEP, both with monumental laser array set-ups. Following years of collaborating with the festival at Sónar by Day, British producer Max Cooper and Japanese technologist Daito Manabe will separately make their debut at Sónar by Night, bringing their advanced and experimental electronica to a peak time festival crowd for the first time at Sónar. 
   
• Across the festival, a stellar lineup of club music heavyweights and breakout dance music sensations will deliver standout sessions: Four Tet, Dixon, Helena Hauff, Barry Can’t Swim, Sama’ Abdulhadi, Cora Novoa, Andres Campo, DJ HEARTSTRING, Jayda G, and Vintage Culture. Three highly anticipated back-to-back sets will make history: the debut pairing of Spanish DJ Indira Paganotto with trance legend Armin van Buuren; the return of California’s Skrillex to the festival, this time teaming up with Blawan; and a generation spanning set from New York selector Dee Diggs alongside house music icon Ultra Naté, known around the world for her timeless hit Free.
   
• This year marks the last chance to experience the unforgettable 'Sun-Sets' of Sónar by Day at Fira Montjuïc. The daytime program will be headlined by Brazilian star Mochakk (Thursday, June 12), house DJ/producer Honey Dijon (Friday, June 13), and British rave revivalists Overmono (Saturday, June 14).
   
• Sónar will also feature the extraordinary performance Room with a View by French producer Rone in collaboration with the collective (LA)HORDE and the Ballet National de Marseille. This deeply emotional and politically charged multidisciplinary piece—combining electronic music, contemporary dance, and striking staging—will be shown in the unique setting of a music festival for the first time.
   
• Additional highlights include Guitarra Coral by virtuoso guitarist and two-time Goya Award winner Yerai Cortés, and DJ sets from Interplanetary Criminal, Tim Reaper, Hiroko Yamamura, and SICARIA.
   
• This year’s Sónar will open and close with important performances from two young, contemporary national artists. The festival begins with a special concert on Thursday, June 12 at the Palau de la Música Catalana, featuring a program of works by Steve Reich and acclaimed Catalan composer Raquel García-Tomás. The closing event will be held on Sunday, June 15 at the Fundació Joan Miró, coinciding with the foundation’s 50th anniversary, and will feature guitarrist Yerai Cortés in an intimate format.
   
• Sónar 2025 offers a unique opportunity to experience exclusive co-productions with several of the world’s most prestigious institutions. Together with the BarbicanLondon, Sónar curates Concrète Waves, a collaboration between the enigmatic producer Actress and synthesizer pioneer Suzanne Ciani. Also at Sónar 2025 are a number of shows produced under a broader initiative supported by the European Commission: TIMES (The Independent Movement for the Electronic Scenes), aimed at producing original, cutting-edge shows that combine music and visual arts, in partnership with 9 other leading European festivals. Among the co curated shows at Sónar 2025 feature: a performance by Norwegian DJ Niilas with Insomnia Festival (Tromsø); a classical music exploration by Catalan violinist ASIA, with Terraforma (Milan) and two projects curated with Semibreve (Braga) —the ambient / drone of Grand River & Abul Mogard, and a highly experimental audiovisual show from Shapednoise & Sevi Iko Dømochevsky. A number of additional performances, talks, and projects have been carefully crafted with the artists and will debut at Sónar. 
   
• Also as part of TIMES, two artistic residencies have also been developed—projects co-created with Semibreve and two other festivals: Atonal (Berlin) and Unsound(Krakow). The first residency has resulted in two unique audiovisual shows: A Forbidden Distance, which explores the impact of migration on identity, and Białowieża, a moving field recording project from the last remaining primeval forest in Europe—located on the border between Poland and Belarus—a powerful symbol of ongoing geopolitical tensions. The second residency produced The Talk, an experimental project that, across several formats, takes its inspiration from the Antikythera, a mechanism considered the oldest known computer in the world.
• As always, Sónar highlights the micro-scenes that provide platforms for expression for diverse communities—both local and global. A strong presence of Latin American talent stands out this year, including: Brazilian DJ Anderson do Paraíso, Peruvian duo Dengue Dengue Dengue, Argentine artist Six Sex with her signature perreo ravetón, Venezuelan artists Safety Trance, WOST, and Tiyumii, The Venezuelan-Spanish DJ duo L’Miranda b2b Candadismo, Madrid-based Colombian DJ Maria Latina and Brazilian performer KEBRA.
   
• At Sónar by Night, two newly reimagined and designed stages take center stage—specially curated in collaboration with Boiler Room and Printworks London, two of the most iconic platforms for club culture to emerge in recent years. The Boiler Room format will allow audience members to dance right next to the DJs in the booth. This, along with the massive translucent vertical screen from Printworks—already a hit in 2024—will elevate the nighttime experience to an entirely new level.

• The Sónar+D 2025 program features more than a hundred projects and activities designed to inspire, educate, and connect creators, professionals from various disciplines, and the general public. Through interactive forums, roundtables, masterclasses, performance-lectures, presentations, and workshops, the event offers a dynamic environment for showcasing both local and international talent.
   
• This year, the symposium is structured around three thematic pillars: AI + Creativity: showcasing innovative tools and alternative approaches to artificial intelligence in artistic production; Imagining the Future of Creative Industries: a space for reflecting on the changes and opportunities facing the creative sector, and Worlds to Come: exploring emerging scenarios that will shape the future relationship between technology, culture, and society.
   
• In this context, the future becomes the present through the participation of dozens of artists, technologists, scientists, and visionaries, who will demonstrate new interactions between human and artificial intelligence. Key participants include: Libby Heaney, presented by SEIDOR, a pioneering artist in quantum computing; Xin Liu, engineer and artist and neurohacker Albert.DATA as well as the duo Operator (Ania Catherine and Dejha Ti), perhaps the most prominent artists in the blockchain and Web3 space, presenting a talk titled On Generative Choreography. Also featured are Tega Brain, Rebecca Fiebrink, yaboihanoi, Danielle Braithwaite-Shirley, and Forensis & Bill Kouligas.
   
• For the first time at any festival, Sónar+D will present the talk-workshop Quantum Live Music Coding, a groundbreaking experience that fuses quantum computing with real-time music creation. Some of the most prominent names in sound research and innovation will perform live using experimental quantum algorithms to generate and manipulate music using technology never before seen on a stage.
   
• In addition to AI, Sónar+D expands its scope to explore topics like quantum computing, genetic research, and space exploration. Drawing on ancient traditions such as astrology, this year’s program aims to rewrite history and lay foundations for the future, while also questioning what it means to be human on a planet increasingly shaped by non-human forces. Special attention is also given to how technology can align with ecological intelligence.
   
• This year, the festival deepens its local and global collaborations, hosting representatives from leading institutions in the cultural, academic, and scientific sectors. These include the New Museum, Serpentine Gallery, Tabakalera, Onassis Foundation, The Lumen Prize, Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Barcelona Supercomputing Center, University of the Arts London, IRCAM, and IASlab at La Salle-URL, among many others. Companies like Stability AI and Google Magenta, as well as pioneering AI projects like AudioStellar, will also be in attendance.
   
• The nerve center of the festival will once again be the Project Area, the large exhibition space at Sónar by Day, featuring a selection of more than 70 national and international projects exploring everything from biology to AI, from music technology to the side effects of hyperconnectivity, the current ecological crisis, and possible futures. Distributed across nine thematic areas — Exhaustion, depletion, burnout; Systems of Care; Quantum Echoes; Natural Networks; Music Tech; AI & Music; AI + Creativity; Worlds to Come; and Realities+D — the projects stand out for their transdisciplinary approach and spirit of inquiry. This edition places a special focus on proposals received through an open call launched by Sónar+D, and includes collaborations with Arts Korea Lab, Fabbula, and Octobre Numérique - Faire Monde, the digital art collection NewArtFoundation, and leading music technology brands Ableton and AlphaTheta Corporation. It also features participation from local universities such as BAU College of Arts and Design Barcelona, ELISAVA, IED Barcelona, La Salle Barcelona – Ramon Llull University, and LCI BARCELONA; as well as Google DeepMind, TABAKALERA & Etxepare Basque Institute, AI & Music powered by STARTS, Reset Networks, Foto Colectania, and the Barcelona Supercomputing Center, among many others.
   
• Sónar+D also launches its new Communities Program, an initiative recognizing the essential role of creative collectives in driving cultural and technological transformation. The program fosters participation, visibility, and exchange to integrate these communities into the Sónar+D ecosystem and build lasting connections. In this edition, three local communities: Barcelona Music Tech Hub, Barcelona Design Week and The Generative Art Museum; as well as the prestigious organisation The Lumen Prize, will each lead a Sónar+D Community Takeover - networking sessions that will address topics such as creative coding, design, digital art, and music technology. Meanwhile, Lounge+D will host networks like Digital Fems, Más Mujeres Creativas, Institute of Network Cultures, and Telenoika, sharing projects and opening up spaces for exchange among creatives and professionals.
   
• Sónar, together with Universitat Pompeu Fabra, co-produces the third edition of the +RAIN Film Festival, Europe’s first AI-generated film festival. It also partners with the Foto Colectania Foundation to present the group exhibition The Art of Navigating: How to Get Lost in a World of Images, a reflection on photography’s impact in the virtual world—featuring a work by one of the artists, Simon Weckert,within the festival itself. The SonarMies series at the Mies van der Rohe Pavilionwill once again serve as a research and development lab with Sensitive Interface, an accessibility-focused project aiming to make the festival more inclusive. Developed in collaboration with BAU, the Barcelona School of Design and Fine Arts, under the artistic supervision of Mónica Rikić and curated by Lluís Nacenta, the project will feature live performances by LANAV, DJ Selfcare and Verushka.
   
• Sónar+D adds a talk between filmmaker Oliver Laxe (‘O que arde’) and the director of the D’A Film Festival Barcelona, Carlos R. Ríos, to discuss Laxe’s new film‘Sirat’, selected for the Official Competition Section at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, with a soundtrack by electronic musician Kangding Ray. The director will shed light on his motivations and methods in crafting a story that moves from the raw energy of techno at its most hedonístic to a more refined and transcendental atmosphere.
   
• Together with creative studio MELT, 3Cat, and artist Maria Arnal, and following its premiere at ISE (Integrated Systems Europe)—the world’s largest audiovisual industry event—Sónar presents Flors de veu: an immersive digital sound garden that invites the public to explore the relationship between the virtual and the real.
   
• Sónar+D will showcase a replica of the apse of Sant Climent de Taüll to host ‘Lux Mundi,’ a spectacular audiovisual experience that reinterprets the fresco paintings of this Romanesque gem, created by four digital artists: Alba G. Corral, Massó, Desilence, and Hamill Industries, alongside the duo Tarta Relena. The piece was created to celebrate the 900th anniversary of the consecration of the churches of Sant Climent and Santa Maria de Taüll. ‘Lux Mundi’ is an initiative of the Generalitat of Catalonia.
   
• Finally, following its official debut at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2025, Sónar will host the interactive installation The Tide by Mat Travizano and Marco Bressan—an AI-driven experience giving voice to the global youth. Visitors will be able to engage in dialogue with an AI that expresses the political and climate-related hopes and fears of new generations.
