Since '93 honours music industry trailblazers Michelle Escoffery and Trenton Harrison-Lewis



 

  • The annual Since '93 Black History Month dinner saw the great and the good come together to celebrate Black excellence 
  • Previous honourees have included Jackie Davidson and Darcus Beese

  

Last night, music and entertainment group Since '93 hosted their 2nd annual Black History Month dinner at Stork, London, to recognise two of the UK music industry's most respected executives, Michelle Escoffery and Trenton Harrison-Lewis. Guests included an array of their peers and those they influenced over their esteemed careers.  

Michelle Escoffery is an Ivor Novello Award Winning Singer Songwriter with three decades of experience in the music Industry. An educator, Boutique Label Owner, live event organiser/promoter, consultant, masterclass facilitator, performance and vocal producer/arranger. Escoffery is widely recognised for her creative and professional ability and contribution, having signed with both major and independent labels. Escoffery presently sits on the Board of Directors for PRS for Music as a Writer-Director and on the Board Of Trustees for PRS Foundation.

Trenton Harrison-Lewis is currently Senior Vice President at Warner Music Group and ADA Distribution Artist and Label Development. He began his career in 1987 working with Wee Papa Girl Rappers before becoming Managing Director of Rush Management Europe, overseeing the company's artist activity outside of North America – working with the likes of Run DMC, LL Cool J, De La Soul, Beastie Boys, Eric B and Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, Public Enemy and A Tribe Called Quest. He also brought Technotronic into the Rush fold, yielding the global smash, "Pump Up the Jam." In 2009, he joined Metropolis Music Management, working with Raye Cosbert, where he was part of the team behind Amy Winehouse, among others. He has recently co-managed influential artists such as Giggs, Ghetts, Sneakbo, Jesse James Solomon, and DJ Target.

We can do this because of those who have paved the way before us. Michelle and Trenton are two inspirational figures who have enriched our industry at every level. It is our privilege to celebrate their careers with our peers at our second annual Black History Month dinner. We started the dinner to honour our legends and share their career journeys with the next generation of young executives and contributors to the culture.” 

Glyn Aikins, Co-President of Since '93 Records, said: “Tonight, we celebrate two legends who were inspirational to me personally. I heard about Trenton and his work with Lyor Cohen years before I actually met him, and I never knew such a thing was possible in the U.K.  With Michelle, I first met her when she was a member of the R’n’B group Truce, shortly before I got my first job working in PR. The label Truce was signed to were among the first clients I worked with back then. The whole point of the evening is to celebrate individuals like Michelle and Trenton, whose journey, stories & contributions paved the way for us to be able to operate in the music business today.”
