Senior execs from Warner Music and eVentures bolster board at music streaming pioneer ROXi



ROXi, the ‘made for TV’ music entertainment business, whose shareholders include Robbie Williams, Sheryl Crow and Alesha Dixon, has bolstered its board with two new senior executives from the world of music and technology. 

Carol Weatherall was previously with Russell Reynolds’ Technology and Media division, and technology incubators eVentures and iFormation Group. 

Serene Sass, is CEO of Amplified Music, previously VP at Warner Music and Music Advisor to the United Nations. 

Both have both joined ROXi’s Board as Non-Exec Directors ahead of a planned IPO in 2020. 

Carol Weatherall commented, “I’m delighted and proud to be joining ROXi’s board and and look forward to helping grow this wonderful cross-generational consumer experience, as we roll it out internationally on multiple platforms across multiple territories.” 

Serene Sass commented; “Building businesses and using music in a positive way to make a difference to society is what drives me. I believe in ROXi’s mission to bring shared music experiences to the home, giving people an alternative to isolating smartphones when enjoying their music. I look forward to helping ROXi take its experiences around the world in a socially conscious way.”

Carol Weatherall is a seasoned advisor and specialist at incubating startups for the likes of Goldman Sachs, General Atlantic and BCG at iFormation Group and doing the same thing for SoftBank and News International startups at eVenutures. Carol was also Director of the Technology and Media division at global leadership advisory and search firm Russell Reynolds Associates. 

Founder of socially conscious record label Amplified Music, Serene Sass, previously worked as VP at Warner Music where she ran the label’s emerging markets business. Focusing on Europe, Russia, Turkey, Israel, Middle East, India, Africa and the Caribbean, Serene was instrumental in setting up new Warner offices in the Middle East, North Africa, Russia and Ukraine as well as acquiring local catalogues, expanding the digital business and supporting local musicians onto the global stage. 

Serene has also worked as music advisor to the United Nations for the past decade, helping curate music events including World Humanitarian Day which saw Serene working alongside Beyoncé and a number of other artists to reach one billion people in one day through social media.
