Self Esteem crowned winner of the DICE Live Award 2022

  • Self Esteem chosen as DICE's best live music act in the UK and Ireland this year
  • The pop artist joins prestigious past DICE Live Award winners including Dave, Little Simz, Loyle Carner, Slowthai and Wolf Alice who have later been recognised by the BRIT Awards and Mercury Prize
  • Live performances were also given on the night by DICE's Ones to Watch 2023: alt-R&B artist Amie Blu, experimental rapper BXKS and boundary-pushing pop artist Ray Laurél

DICE, the fast-growing music and live event discovery platform, has named pop artist Self Esteem as the winner of the DICE Live Award 2022, following testimonial input from senior industry figures and a final vote from DICE fans.

The DICE Live Award is a celebration of the best live music acts in the UK and Ireland. Self Esteem was shortlisted alongside Fred again.., Gabriels, Obongjayar and Shygirl.

Self Esteem burst onto the live scene as a "take-no-prisoners" pop artist. Her performances are both spellbinding and all-consuming, with her big chorussed and experimental solos making the atmosphere at her live shows unmissable. Her Mercury Prize-nominated second album Prioritise Pleasure arrived as one of 2021's most anticipated releases, praised for its fearless ability to tackle issues around female autonomy, comparison culture and self love, with intimate, confessional and witty lyricism and anthemic maximalist pop rhythms.

Self Esteem's upcoming tour in the UK sold out quickly on DICE, with fan demand on the app (including ticket sales and Waiting List sign ups) leading to a run of extra dates being announced, including a third night at London's Eventim Apollo.

As the winner of the sixth edition of the DICE Live Award, Self Esteem joins a prestigious line up of past winners (Dave, Little Simz, Loyle Carner, Slowthai and Wolf Alice), who have gone on to headline major shows and be recognised by the BRIT Awards or Mercury Prize.

Self Esteem received the award last night at The Lower Third, Outernet's brand new entertainment venue which occupies the former 12 Bar on Denmark Street, London.

Speaking on her win, Self Esteem said: "Thank you fans and thank you DICE. I can't believe this, I finally feel like Hayley from Paramore. Thank you also to my band who are amazing. This is for all of you guys - I'm genuinely really chuffed."

Phil Hutcheon, Founder & CEO of DICE said: "It was great to bring the DICE Live Award back again, to recognise Self Esteem alongside the talented artists raising the bar for live music. Big thanks to everyone who helped us find our worthy winner for 2022."

Host Kate Hutchinson added: "After the few years we've had, it's more important now than ever to celebrate our incredible live music scene and uplift new artists. I'm not surprised that Self Esteem is taking home the prize – her show is one of the best I've seen this year and underlines the power of pop performance. The DICE Live Award winners always go on to bigger things and world domination is going to be hers in 2023."

DICE Ones to Watch 2023

The award event also included performances from DICE's Ones to Watch 2023, three up-and-coming artists currently breaking through on the DICE app:

  • Alt-R&B artist Amie Blu whose debut EP, 5 for U, was released in April 2022
  • Ray Laurél, an artist looking to break the boundaries of UK Pop
  • Experimental rapper BXKS, who's ever-evolving sound has received praise from the likes of Skepta
